A Look Back: Progress in Pictures

For those who love watching the transformation step-by-step, we've been taking photos from the exact same spot every time we head down to the club. Here’s how far we’ve come over the last eight months:

It’s been about eight months since our last official update back in November 2025, when we celebrated seeing the metal framework stand tall. Since then, a lot has been happening behind the scenes and on the range!

Building a home for our club hasn't been without a few plot twists, but step by step, our new clubhouse is taking shape. Here is everything that’s been going on over the past few months.

What’s Been Happening On Site

Since our last update, the progress on-site has transformed the space:

• Full Wooden Framing Complete: The entire timber skeleton of the building is up, giving us a real sense of the clubhouse's size and layout.

• Weatherproofed & Sealed: The exterior weather wrap is fully installed, and the upper and main area windows and doors are now in place.

• Outdoor Deck Area: Framing for the deck is complete, and the surrounding scaffolding has come down. It’s starting to look like a place where we can actually sit back and talk archery!

• Roofing Progress: Flashings arrived and were installed just this week. The coils for the roof and side cladding are currently being transported to Auckland, and we’re aiming to get them installed next week.

Navigating a Few Bumps in the Road

As with any major build, we’ve hit a couple of unexpected hurdles along the way:

1. Change of Contractors: Unfortunately, the original contracting company went into liquidation midway through the build. However, we quickly pivoted and brought a new team on board to keep the project moving forward seamlessly.

2. A Legendary Member Discount: On a much brighter note, one of our very own club members—who happens to be a roofing contractor—is supplying the clubhouse roof at a generous discounted price! A huge shoutout and thank you for helping us stretch our budget further.

3. The Case of the Missing Water Tanks: On a slightly quirkier note... our prepaid water tanks seem to have gone M.I.A. during transit/delivery. We are actively tracking them down so they can be installed as soon as possible!

What’s Next?

With the roof and cladding going up very soon, we're getting closer every day to having a fully enclosed structure.

Get ready to get excited! If you’ve been down to the range in the last few days, you’ve probably seen the biggest update yet on our new clubhouse.

We know everyone was anxiously watching the skies (and the ground!) after that frustrating spot of bad weather caused a small delay. But we’re thrilled to report that not even the rain could hold us back for long!

Milestone #1: The Foundation is SET!

Last week, the team got a clear window and the concrete foundation was officially poured and set! This was a massive step, laying the literal groundwork for our new club home. A huge thank you to the crew for getting this done.

Milestone #2: We Have a Skeleton!

As of this week, the really exciting work has begun.

The main metal framework of the clubhouse has been erected!

This is no longer just a plan on paper. You can now walk past and see the full size, shape, and height of our new building. It gives us the first real, tangible glimpse of what we’ve all been working towards, and honestly? It’s looking fantastic.

You can already start to picture where the new social area will be, where we'll store the gear, and where we'll celebrate all our future wins.

What's Next?

The crew is wasting no time. The very next phase is to add the front part of the structure to the main framework. This will really start to give the clubhouse its final shape and character.

Exciting news from the range! Construction on our long-awaited new Massey Archery Club Clubrooms is officially underway.

The team has made fantastic progress, completing the crucial first phase of the build. The essential groundwork is now finished, which includes setting all the piles and installing the drainage. The earth foundation has also been perfectly compacted and smoothed, creating a solid base for our new home.

The site is now fully prepped and awaits a final council inspection. Once we get the green light, the next major milestone is pouring the concrete foundation! We're one huge step closer to having a new space to call our own.
